Y’all, I am thrilled to introduce you today to Ruth Burk, a compassionate entrepreneur with Trades of Hope! Ruth is empowering women across the globe by selling Trades of Hope’s fair trade jewelry and accessories right here in the Triangle area of North Carolina.
Hi belles! Who else out there is somewhat of a beauty junkie? This post is for you!
Yes, you read that right. Fashion trucks! They’re a thing, y’all! Think of a food truck, but with pretty clothes inside instead of tacos and burgers. It’s fantastic.
I recently wrote about my difficulties finding stores here in Raleigh at which to shop for fair trade clothing. At the end of that rather depressing post, I promised that there was good news coming. Here it is!
Back in January, I was telling a group of ladies about my interest in fair trade fashion and my struggles to find local vendors. One of them piped up and said she had recently learned about a local fair trade fashion truck through another friend. I was beyond excited and immediately hit the Internet to find out more.
I just love finding deals for you, belles! LivingSocial is currently offering a discount on tickets to the Greater Carolina Bridal Show in Durham: $10 for 2 tickets, which is half off the regular price. The show will take place from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. on March 1, 2015 at the Durham Convention Center. You can find a list of the vendors that will be at the show on the show’s website. In addition to meeting local area vendors, you will also have a chance to see two bridal fashion shows and win lots of door prizes!
Are you looking for a fun and fresh idea for your bachelorette party? Look no further! What could be better than your own private wine tasting? Wines for Humanity, a wine tasting company serving Wake, Durham, Orange, Granville, and Person Counties in NC, brings the fun to you by traveling to your personal residence for a wine tasting. As you sample, your wine consultant will teach you how to taste wine and pair the various wines with food. The best part? They help prevent homelessness by donating 12-17% of their proceeds to a local organization that helps community members who are struggling with their utility bills. Oh, and LivingSocial is currently offering a discounted deal one one of their wine tasting packages, so that’s pretty fabulous as well.
It’s officially that time of year in North Carolina when you can smell ACC basketball fever in the air! Here in the South, we tend to take college sports pretty seriously. Whether you’re painting your chest orange in Death Valley during the fall or freezing your tail off in Krzyzewskiville waiting for tickets come winter, chances are you have a loyalty and you’re sticking to it. Why not incorporate your love for your alma mater or favorite team into your wedding? Here are some ideas about how:
1. Your venue: Many colleges and universities have beautiful outdoor areas if you’re getting married during the warmer months, and oftentimes alumni centers, performance halls, and university-owned chapels can be rented as venues as well. Nothing shows your love for your school like saying your vows on sacred ground!
Back in May we talked about the Brides Against Breast Cancer Charity Wedding Gown Sale and Bridal Show taking place in Charlotte. Now, Durham gets a shot at discounted wedding dresses while at the same time supporting a great cause!
Mark your calendars: The Brides Against Breast Cancer Charity Wedding Gown Sale and Bridal Show is taking place Sunday, July 13 at the Washington Duke Inn and Golf Club in Durham, NC. The sale will feature new and already-loved wedding gowns ranging from $99-$3,900 and sizes 4-18 (keep in mind that wedding dresses tend to run small, so if you are normally a size 4, you likely will wear a size 6 or 8 wedding gown). Durham-area wedding vendors will also be present at the show, so you can knock out some planning at the same time! I also hear that there will be lots of exciting prizes and giveaways.
Visit the Brides Against Breast Cancer webpage to register to attend or volunteer for the event. The VIP Unveiling of the Gowns Reception will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and general admission for the sale will be 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. Buying general admission tickets ahead of time saves money, as the tickets cost $5 online but $7 at the door. Ticket purchases are tax deductible.
Brides Against Breast Cancer supports efforts to deliver free information and services to children and adults impacted by cancer.
Go register, belles! Happy shopping!
