Dropps Review: Eco-Friendly Laundry & Dishwasher Pods Delivered to Your Door

This post is not sponsored. I received a Dropps Citrus Clean Household Bundle in exchange for my personal review of the products.

Today, I’m very excited to introduce you to Dropps, a brand of eco-friendly laundry detergent and dishwasher pods that I have absolutely fallen in love with! Read on for my full review of Dropps. And, I’ve got a discount code (fairly15) so you can try them out yourself for 15% off!

What is Dropps?

Dropps is an eco-responsible brand offering laundry detergent and dishwasher pods that are delivered right to your front door with free, carbon neutral shipping!

Dropps pods are zero waste, as the boxes they ship in ARE the packages of pods themselves and are recyclable/compostable once you finish up the box of pods. And the pods don’t come wrapped in any sort of plastic wrapper, thank the heavens–no single use plastics! The detergent is encased in biodegradable coating that simply dissolves once wet. These little pods are an easy way to majorly cut down on waste. According to Dropps, the average family could use Dropps laundry pods for 15 years and have the same footprint as one plastic jug of laundry detergent in a landfill!

I love that the detergents are non-toxic. The formulas are free of harsh chemicals and and made from plant-based ingredients. They contain no dyes or fillers and are scented with essential oils.

Dropps products can be purchased as one-time purchases or as a subscription service where you regularly receive shipments of your selected products.

The laundry pods and dishwasher pods come in a variety of scents, including unscented. They also have laundry pods especially for sensitive skin as well as laundry additives like fabric softeners and oxi boosters.

How Well do Dropps Pods Work?

After getting to review several Dropps products I can say: Really well!

I have tested out the Stain & Odor Laundry Detergent in “Clean” scent and the Dishwasher Detergent in “Lemon” scent, available for purchase together as the Citrus Clean Household Bundle.

First, let me say that I love the convenience of having the pods just show up at your home, and I also love the zero waste packaging. When your box arrives, you just pop it open, and there are your pods! Nothing you need to toss in the trash or recycling bin.

The laundry pods are extremely easy to use. You just toss them straight into the bottom or back of your washing machine, then add your dirty clothes on top. You don’t even have to worry about putting them in a dispenser…just toss them in and go!

The pods worked like a charm. My clothes were clean and smelled fresh and lightly scented. I hate when laundry comes out reeking of laundry detergent, but I’m also so used to scented detergent that I’m a little unnerved by unscented detergents. The amount of scent these pods leave behind on clothes is perfect. Just enough to smell “clean” without being a nuisance.

If you are washing your clothes with cold water in a high efficiency machine, it is apparently best to use the pods with a cold water washing pouch to ensure it is able to fully dissolve. I haven’t yet purchased a pouch, so I have only tried the pods in warm water laundry loads (like my towels and underwear). Of note, I was using the “eco warm” setting on my washer, so the water was lukewarm and not hot. No dissolving issues!

The dishwasher pods worked equally as well. I just put the pods in the dispenser in my dishwasher and turn it on! I typically pre-rinse my dishes….nothing crazy, just a quick rinse after I’m done eating to wash off the worst of the remaining food/sauce. I don’t scrub anything off. So, I don’t put dishes in my dishwasher with caked-on food, but I also don’t scrub off every bit of sauce either. I’ve run the pods on a normal cycle, and my dishes come out looking great!

How Much do Dropps Cost?

I tend to expect to pay more for a product that is sustainably made. So, I was pretty shocked when I figured out that Dropps products are actually way cheaper than many leading conventional brands selling laundry/dishwasher pods.

Dropps offers boxes of varying quantities of pods. You can get a box with just 32 pods or a Bulk Box with as many as 804 pods. If you buy a larger quantity size, the cost per pod is less expensive. Depending on what size box and which product you buy, the cost per pod can be as low as $0.14 per pod. Compare that to Tide Pods, which I just saw on Amazon for $0.25 per pod.

In short, Dropps are quite affordable! And I can make them even more affordable for you with a discount code:
