Get the Look: Holiday Glam Clean Beauty Makeover

This makeover post gives all the details you need to create a glam holiday look at home using clean beauty products! But the best news? One lucky reader will win their own professional makeover at Trellis Beauty! Read through to the end of the post to enter.

If you’re like me, you’ve got your everyday makeup routine down pat. I can throw on some foundation and mascara like a champ. But when it comes time to take it up a notch for a special occasion, I’m a little lost. Highlighter? Winged eyeliner? Contouring? I don’t have a clue about this stuff…but I want to!With holiday parties and New Year’s Eve fast approaching, I decided to head to Trellis Beauty in Raleigh for a holiday makeover. I love Trellis Beauty because all of their products are non-toxic. (Read more here about why I use clean beauty products.)

Tracy Trellis Gori, shop owner and makeup artist extraordinaire, gave me all the details on the products she used to create this look, so that I (and you, my amazing blog readers) can recreate it at home. A convenient list of all products used is located at the very bottom of this post.

Here is my face before we started: naked and ready for some holiday cheer!

Well, technically not totally naked. I had applied a layer of my favorite primer before I arrived at Trellis Beauty, since I needed this look to last all day for a Christmas party! (You can check out my review of the primer here.)

Tracy started with my eyes. It’s a good idea to apply eyeshadow and eyeliner prior to your foundation since eyeshadow dust has a tendency to go…well, everywhere! Then, you can clean up the mess before you apply the rest of your makeup.

Tracy used several different eye shadow shades to create a smoky eye, including the Aether Beauty Rose Quartz palette and Elate Cosmetics eyeshadows in “Gifted” and “Union.” The MOTD eye brush set she used was so soft. In the past when I have had eyeshadow applied by someone else, it sometimes feels like my eyeballs are being stabbed. Not so with the MOTD brushes and Tracy’s skilled hand!

Also, a quick side note on Elate Cosmetics: I LOVE THIS BRAND. When you purchase one of their bamboo compacts (picture above), you purchase the actual makeup (eyeshadow, blush, etc.) that goes inside of it separately. This means you can create a customized palette with the products and colors that you want. And, the palettes are reusable. Once you finish a certain product, you just lift the dish out of the compact and replace it with a new one. This means less waste going into the trash can–so sustainable and eco-friendly!

Okay, back to the makeover. My eyebrows were up next, and Tracy used Elate Cosmetics Brow Balm in “Smoke.” I have naturally dark eyebrows, so it didn’t take much to fill in the gaps and create full brows. I like that the balm is a bit waxy, so it keeps hairs in place.

Next, Tracy created a subtle winged eyeliner look by applying Elate Cosmetics eyeshadow in color “Stillness” using a wet angled brush just to the outermost portion of my upper eyelid.

With my eyes now complete (minus the mascara), we moved on to the rest of my face. Tracy dabbed some Fitglow Beauty concealer under my eyes. I was surprised when she simply used a tinted moisturizer for my foundation. I have always been a bit heavy handed with my foundation, but I am gradually realizing how little of it I truly need! I love that the Suntegrity Tinted Moisturizer that she used is also SPF 30.

Tracy then highlighted and contoured my face using the Lily Lolo Scupt & Contour Duo and Elate Cosmetics Universal Creme in “Celestial Highlight.” She also applied a pretty pink blush (Au Naturale Anywhere Creme Multistick in “Blossom”). I never wear highlighter, so the subtle glow from both of the cremes took the look up a notch.

Finally, Tracy applied mascara and lip serum. I ended up trying both lip colors in Fitglow Beauty’s Lip Serum duo–pictures of each one are below. I never wear color on my lips, so it made me feel extra festive!

Here’s the final product: a glamorous but not overdone holiday party look, using exclusively non-toxic beauty products! See below for a convenient list of all products used.

I really liked both lip serum colors. On the left, I am wearing “Juice.” On the right, I am wearing “Berry.” They are quite similar–“Juice” just has a bit more pink, while “Berry” is a deeper red.
