Save the date, belles and beaus! The famous Southern Bridal Show and Expo is returning to Raleigh, NC, on August 9-10, 2014. The Show is held at the Jim Graham Building at the NC State Fairgrounds from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. both days. Over 150 Triangle-area wedding vendors will be there to talk to you about their services and show you their work. Cake samples are guaranteed to be in abundance! This is a great opportunity to learn about vendors in the area and knock out a good chunk of wedding planning. Oh, and many of the vendors hold drawings where they give away freebies…you could score a discount on your reception venue, or even a free photography package!
If you pre-register online, your ticket will likely be less expensive and you’ll get to skip the ticket line the day of.
I attended the Show about a month after getting engaged and was not prepared for how intense it would be! Bring a friend or two to help you hold the many brochures and samples you’ll be receiving, and ditch your purse in the car. Believe me, you’ll get shoulder cramps as it is carrying around your heavy bag full of caterer’s business cards and photographer’s flyers! Another helpful hint is to print out little slips of paper with your name, address, phone number, and wedding date ahead of time to easily and efficiently enter all of the contests that will be available. You’ll be glad you don’t have to handwrite that information at every single one of the 150 booths! Last but not least, be sure to have a pen on hand. You will meet so many vendors, they will start to blur together by the end. When you take a brochure or business card, jot down a couple of quick words to help you remember who the vendor was once you get home. For example, you might write on the back of a florist’s card, “the one with the gorgeous pale pink peonies” or “tall, red hair…our personalities really clicked well.”
