Many of us have fitness and health goals in mind as we enter a new year. Sometimes it’s hard to work up the motivation to work out, even with the best of intentions for our health! I personally find it a lot more motivating to exercise when the workout has a “give back” component or is connected to a cause I can get behind.
Here are four workouts that allow you to give back in the new year!
1. Daily Fuel
Daily Fuel is the first online workout streaming service with a mission is to fight world hunger using workouts. Workout videos range from 7 minutes to 45 minutes and can be accessed by subscribers at any time from the online video library. Videos vary in terms of theme, target body areas, and difficulty level. You can sign up for a free 7 day trial on their website.
Daily Fuel’s profits go to Rise Against Hunger, a global nonprofit dedicated to ending hunger through nourishment, emergency response, and community empowerment. Subscribers know they are doing something positive for their own physical health as well as the health of others.
I recently did a full length review of Daily Fuel’s workouts, go check it out here!
2. Nonprofit Fitness Challenge
Many nonprofits are entering the fitness industry and providing a way for supporters to workout while raising money for their favorite organization. For example, participants in Make-A-Wish’s Trailblaze Challenge raise money for the nonprofit while training for a marathon-length hike. Many other nonprofits offer fundraising walks or 5k fun runs. Find a nonprofit with a mission that speaks to you and sign up for their fitness challenge!
3. Donation-Based Group Fitness Classes
Many group fitness class companies, such as Pure Barre, will offer donation based pop-up classes throughout the year! Just keep an eye on your favorite local fitness businesses to see when they might offer a free class in exchange for donations to a specific cause or nonprofit.
4. WoofTrax
If you’re an animal lover and enjoy walking, check out the app WoofTrax. When you log walks in the app, you start earning “points” toward a donation for your preferred animal charity!
