Reclaimed Clothes Box Review: The Sustainable Stitch Fix Alternative!

Reclaimed Clothes Box Review: The Sustainable Stitch Fix Alternative!

This post is not sponsored. I received a Reclaimed Clothes Box in exchange for my honest opinions.

Can y’all believe I have not tried a subscription clothes box before now? Not a single Stitch Fix or Trunk Club or Wantable box has graced my doorstep! I think I must have been unconsciously holding out for the best, which I have now officially found: Reclaimed Clothes Box! (And I have a discount code! Keep reading!)

A friend recommended I check out Reclaimed Clothes Box a couple of months ago and sent me a link to their Instagram page. I was so excited because I immediately discovered what sets this subscription clothing box apart from the others: All of the clothing is secondhand!

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know that I’m a big fan of secondhand clothing. It’s better for the environment! Read more here about why shopping consignment is a priority for me.

So, I was understandably really excited to learn about Reclaimed Clothes Box. And, I got to try out the service and am going to tell you all about it…and show photos of the clothes I got in my box!

About Reclaimed Clothes Box

Reclaimed Clothes Box is a bimonthly subscription clothing service–a box of consignment clothes handpicked for you on your doorstep every other month! When you sign up for Reclaimed Clothes Box, you complete a survey to tell the company about your sizing, style preferences, etc. This is what they use to shop for you.

Reclaimed Clothes Box offers two plans. The Standard Plan is $45 per box and includes three pieces of clothing. The VIP Plan is $55 per box and includes three pieces of clothing plus the option to exchange any of the items in your box. VIP boxes come with a return envelope and pre-addressed, pre-paid shipping label to return any items that don’t fit or that you don’t like. I got to try out the VIP Plan!

(My 10% off discount code, FAIRLYSOUTHERN, can be applied to either plan!)

First Box Try On

My first Reclaimed Clothes Box came quickly. When I opened the box, I was excited to see lots of colors that I love: denim, hot pink, and pale yellow and white stripes. Toni, the owner and founder of Reclaimed Clothes Box, definitely nailed my color palette!

One of the reasons I have always hesitated to sign up for subscription clothing boxes like Stitch Fix in the past is because I felt like there would be too many fit issues. I’m an in-person shopper–it’s very important to me to try things on and make sure they fit before purchasing! So, I was nervous to see how my Reclaimed Clothes Box items fit. They were all a slam dunk!

First up: these Calvin Klein capris. I sometimes have a hard time finding jeans that fit well because I have very thin legs. Sometimes “skinny” jeans aren’t actually skinny enough for my stick-thin legs. But these skinny jeans fit me perfectly and were flattering! They’re a great light wash for summer.

Next up was a hot pink Charles Henry dress. I knew I would love it before I even tried it on. I tend to wear a lot of neutrals and generally avoid bright colors, with the one exception being hot pink.

Finally, I tried on the yellow and white striped blazer. I loved the fabric and the tassels, but ultimately I’m not much of a blazer person, so this piece was a no for me. I don’t have to dress up at work, and I tend to feel like blazers, denim jackets, vests, etc. are just too bulky. I decided the blazer would need to go back.

Exchanging an Item

With their VIP Plan, Reclaimed Clothes Box makes it incredibly easy to exchange an item that you don’t love or doesn’t fit. My original box had a return envelope inside of it (made from eco-friendly packaging material, I might add) with a pre-paid return label. I slipped the blazer into the envelope and put it in the mailbox. So simple!

A week later, my mailer returned to me with a new item for me to try in place of the blazer. I received this Diane von Furstenberg floral top.

When I opened the package, I wasn’t sure what to think about the top. It was a lot of colors and a bold pattern, which I don’t typically go for. However, I loved it once I tried it on! It fit perfectly and was fun and flirty.

Overall Thoughts

I highly recommend Reclaimed Clothes Box for anyone who is sustainably-minded and wants to try a subscription clothing service for an affordable price. I thought $55 for three pieces of quality clothing and the option to exchange items for free was a great deal–that’s just $18 per item, plus free shipping three ways. Also, if you want to get your Reclaimed Clothes Box for even less, I have a 10% off discount code! Just use code FAIRLYSOUTHERN at checkout on the Reclaimed Clothes Box website. The code expires on August 31, 2019.

Another plus of Reclaimed Clothes Box is that this is a way to shop on your own time from the comfort of your home, without having to go spend time digging through racks at the store! This is awesome if you are always busy, or if getting out to go shopping is difficult for you either because of your proximity to stores or perhaps the presence of kiddos!

I love that the company is focused on sustainability, from their choice to sell secondhand items to the way they carefully choose eco-friendly packaging materials. Everything is thoughtfully done with the environment in mind.

And finally, I love the clothes! Having someone shop for me forced me to try things (like the floral top!) that I wouldn’t have necessarily tried on my own. I enjoyed being pushed a little bit out of my comfort zone to try new styles.

Discount Code

Just in case anyone missed it above, I decided to give the discount code its own heading so y’all can easily find it. For 10% off your Reclaimed Clothes Box, use code FAIRLYSOUTHERN on the Reclaimed Clothes Box website. The code expires on August 31, 2019!

If you try out Reclaimed Clothes Box, I’d love to hear from you in the comments with your thoughts!

xoxo Laura
