Keeping fit and healthy is important for your overall well-being, and if you can find ways to be health-conscious while also being more eco-friendly, it is even better! Thankfully, healthy living and sustainable living go hand-in-hand. Here are some ways in which you can get the benefit of both worlds.
Exercise Outdoors
An easy way to keep fit without having to burn gasoline to go to the nearest gym is to exercise outdoors. You can go for a run, cycle, practice yoga in your backyard or at a nearby greenspace, or swim in a nearby lake, ocean, or neighborhood pool. This will enable you to keep fit without having to use your car and emit harmful fossil fuels into the environment.
Buy Local Fruits and Vegetables
Eating a healthy, balanced diet with plenty of fruit and vegetables is an important way to keep healthy. If you buy local, fresh produce that has not traveled far, this prevents excess air miles being used and creating pollution. Buying loose produce or using your own reusable produce bags is also a better way to purchase your goods instead of plastic wrapped packaging that takes a long time to deteriorate and is harmful to the environment.
Consider Eating Meat Less Often
Meat production uses a lot of environmental resources, and meat isn’t the best for your personal health. Even if you aren’t ready to eliminate meat completely from your diet, perhaps you could cook up some meat free options several times a week for dinner. In the process, you will be making a positive difference on the earth as well as maintaining a good, balanced diet.
Look After Your Teeth Sustainably
You can easily purchase more eco-friendly toothbrushes that are made from bamboo instead of harmful plastics and non-toxic varieties of toothpaste that are less damaging to the environment. When you are next due to visit the dentist, such as http://www.alpinedentistryutah.com, why not cycle, use public transport, or walk to the dentist’s office rather than driving so that you are using more eco-friendly transportation methods, too? It is easy to be health-conscious and eco-friendly when looking after your teeth!
Grow Your Own Produce
If you have the garden space and would like a new hobby that is kinder to the environment, then why not try growing your own fruit and vegetables? It will enable you to grow what you like and experiment with new varieties and flavors, while saving you money at the grocery store! It is very satisfying knowing that you have been able to successfully grow your own produce that has not travelled halfway around the world and does not use harmful chemicals or unnecessary packaging to transport. You will be able to enjoy your deliciously homegrown food whilst also being kind to the environment.
Use Non-Toxic Products
Using as few chemical-free products as possible is not only good for the environment but will be better for your health as well. Be sure to check out my guide of favorite eco-friendly cleaning products. Additionally, using natural, non-toxic toiletries such as shampoo, conditioners, face creams, and makeup will be much better for you, as you will be avoiding harmful chemicals that can be absorbed into the body through the skin. Some of my favorite places to shop for non-toxic beauty, skin, and haircare products are:
- 100% Pure: makeup
- Alima Pure: makeup
- Au Naturale Cosmetics: makeup
- Beautycounter: haircare, makeup, skincare
- The Detox Market: haircare, makeup, and skincare
- M.S. Skincare: skincare
- NakedPoppy (use code fairly15 for 15% off): makeup and skincare
- No BS Skincare: skincare
- One Love Organics: skincare
- Petit Vour: haircare, makeup, and skincare

We hope these tips leave you feeling better equipped to take care of your body and the planet. It is easy to be health-conscious and eco-friendly at the same time!
